About Coach Rodman

I am a basketball coach, basketball trainer, Certified Personal Trainer, and Certified Nutrition Coach with over a decade of experience developing athletes and individuals of all ages.

I have been coaching basketball since 2012 and working in the fitness industry since 2019. Throughout my career, I’ve served as a head coach, assistant coach, team manager, private skills trainer, and fitness trainer across multiple levels — including Division I, prep school, high school, middle school, and youth programs.

I’ve worked with a wide range of clients, from elite college athletes and competitive middle and high school players to adults focused on improving their health and fitness. My experience also includes training young children as young as two years old, as well as elderly clients with significant movement limitations.

No matter the age or skill level, my focus remains the same: meet you where you are, build a strong foundation, teach you to be self sufficient.

Training Philosophy

My training philosophy is based on the following three things. Developing a well rounded skill set, progressing from the fundamentals to the advanced skills at an appropriate pace, and teaching my clients to be self sufficient.

Well Rounded Training

If you want to make a team and earn playing time, you must prove you can help your team win. That requires more than just scoring.

While ball-handling, shooting, and finishing are extremely important — and we will train them consistently — they are only part of the game. Defense, rebounding, passing, and playing without the ball are just as critical. Most teams only have a few primary scorers. The rest of the roster is filled with players who defend, move the ball, rebound, and understand their role.

The more ways you can impact the game, the more valuable you become.

When training all athletes on fitness, I teach a well rounded form of athleticism that balances out coordination, mobility, stability, endurance, strength and power.

Progression

Skill development and athletic development follow a clear process: build coordination, master the fundamentals, and then increase intensity and complexity. We focus on footwork, balance, control, and efficiency first. Once those are solid, advanced skills become more effective and consistent.

Master the basics — then build on them.

Self Sufficiency

My goal is to train you so well that one day, you don’t need me.

Training should be an educational process. I’m not just putting you through drills or workouts — I’m teaching you how to train and how to make decisions on the court. You’ll learn proper technique, how to structure workouts, how to improve specific skills, and how to take care of your body.

I want you to leave each session not only better physically, but more knowledgeable and more confident in your ability to train yourself.

If you give a man a workout, he’ll be strong for a day.
If you teach a man to workout, he’ll be strong for the rest of his life.
